Bank Buster

Bank Buster

Atari ST - 1988

The only way to break into a well-stocked bank is to head underground, and smash your way through layer after layer of earth. This makes for a game influenced by Breakout, but with many subtleties of its own. You have full control over the bat, able to move up and down as well as left and right. The latter can be useful as only part of the bottom of the screen actually results in the ball going out of play - a wall protects much of the floor. There are inbuilt trees which can't be played through, and dynamite sticks which can clear large sections of earthing at a time.

The object of the game is to drive the 12 laps as fast as you can. Pay attention to the condition of your tires and to the fuel consumption. Tyres will wear out if you are touching the red and white chequered side of the road. At higher speed you will consume more fuel. In the pit you can change tyres and refuel.

Leather Skirts

Microsoft MSX2 - Released - 1987

The game is played in a maze in which leather skirts must be collected. In the maze you will also find restaurants, bars and you can visit the red-light district. All in all, promising, but we were surprised when it turned out that overview of the maze image remains with also the locations where the above mentioned places can be found. We also had the game played out within half an hour because you simply have to follow the lines on the overview map. Reach one of the locations, you will get one nice picture to see. The graphics are smooth but the sound is almost completely missing as well as music. The subtitle ‘For adults only’ doesn't mean much either; the ladies are almost completely dressed.

The Enforcer (Eurosoft)

Commodore Amiga - Released - 1988

I can barely bring myself to write anything about this appalling bag of camel poo. Direness of the highest level. This game consists of a series of puny sub-games, almost all of which seem to be entirely unplayable. The first of these makes you attempt to put together a gun by moving a band of weapon pieces so they are hit by bullets. Half of the pieces are hit by bullets within the first few seconds of them being on the screen, so you loose this almost instantly. The second sub-game is one of those police training shoot things where various cardboard gangsters and civilians slide along the screen. Now being British I assumed that anyone carrying a gun on public is probably a danger to society, so I shot everyone who had a gun in their hands. Obviously not. A message flashed up that I had made to many mistakes and that I was fired. And that to be quite honest was as far as I played. It might be there's a brilliant shoot'em up or something hidden the other side of this tedium. However I doubt it.
