Biniax 2.0

Sinclair ZX Spectrum - Released - May 22, 2009

Nanako’s hometown, the city of Ibh, was surrounded by four powerful countries (Land of Canutoz, Realms of Tuberya, Desert of Kekhalo and Hills of Pasokhulo), whose queens were continuously fighting for its control. The situation was overwhelming, so Nanako decided she had to do something! She asked the Oracle again, and he told Nanako that there was an ancient game called Biniax, which had been used by their ancestors to decide upon conficts involving land posession without bloodshed. The game, created by the Gods, had to be celebrated by kings and queens if any of the contenders asked for it, and the result of it had to me obbeyed. The game was played on a board, in which the contender had to remove a certain number of blocks following simple rules.

Nintendo Entertainment System - Homebrew - 2018

The Mojon twins have recently released a brand new NES port of their 2013 ZX Spectrum game Bootèe. Bootèe is a very nice platformer starring Cheril, a semi naked girl in a boot, who can’t stop jumping! This is most definitely not your typical game, however you can’t say the idea isn’t original! As you can imagine the NES version is a big step up in graphics, SFX and Music. Get bouncing!

Sinclair ZX Spectrum - Homebrew - 2019

Chemad is mad. The Gods of Metal play a gig tonight and the idea he had of printing out the wanking guitarist GIF so he could get it signed by the band hasn’t come out quite nicely. And if that was not enough, Badajoz’s seventh bio-dance group has organized a batukada festival in the neighbourhood, blocking the entrance to the concert hall. Help Cheman collecting powwwer medallions while regaining control of the neighbourhood getting rid of all the unnerving batukadas. Don’t let a samba-reggae spoil a good riff!

Cheril da Goddess

Cheril da Goddess

Sinclair ZX Spectrum - Homebrew - 2012

In the Temple of the Big Cucumber, Prince Chicken (who was famous for his studies of the arcane, for being a proud intelligent man and for having a foot slightly larger than the other), awaited a very special delivery: “arogas”, a sustance capable of increasing his inner power to a “Master of the Universe” level. With such power, he would be so strong that, only by thinking bad of somebody, he could make it explode. And that rocks big time. Meanwhile, and thanks to having had so many adventures, Cheril had learned how to fly and throw energy balls made of concentrated “bad will”. There was a proble, thought: it took quite a lot of energy to produce such skills, so much that they ended draining her vitality! So, investigating in the slums of Little Olimpo (province of Badajoz), she learned about Prince Chicken and the delivery of arogas he was waiting. So she was decided: she would sneak by all possible means inside the Temple of the Big Cucumber to intercept the delivery, so she could acquire such a big power for herself so flying and firing power balls wouldn’t drain her vitality. That way she could finally take over the work, and, specially, submit Eleuterio, the Very Serious Monkey, her nemesis. To achieve such an objective, she learned she had to activate the three Sila-Tsikl elemental tri-force shrines by means of breaking them with the Sacred Talismans – such a thing would make the temple lock to appear so she could actually open it. Using the temple key, which she had to find as well. So many things!

Cheril in Cadaverion

Cheril in Cadaverion

Sinclair ZX Spectrum - Homebrew - 2013

The Evil Witch Soraya, simply put, hated Cheril. Specially after she had gained her Goddess status (see previous game “Cheril the Goddess“), when Soraya cried in anger and envy for four days straight. She just couldn’t stand Cheril, and spent long sleepless nights thinking about something really awful to do to her. Finally, she conceived a truly evil plan. Rigoberto Brioso was an incredibly beautiful wizard. She used to take long walks playing his lire along the paths in the gardens of his mansion, and stopped only to watch the sprinklers and let the birds come and land on his golden curls. That’s why Cheril accepted immediately when she received an invitation for a walk alongside the famous Wizard, listening to the beautiful sounds of mockingbirds and the chant of the unicorns. Or something. Nevertheless, when she arrived to their date, she felt something was going incredibly wrong… She was in an old, decrepit, dark mansion and the handsome wizard prince was nowhere to be seen. Then she heard the evil laughter of Soraya: – I’ve set a time bomb in each floor of this mansion, which will activate once you enter, so you better run unless you want yourself turned into a pile of pudding! Cheril was immortal, but not invincible: a violent explosion would not kill her, but would tear her in pieces, and living in such a condition wasn’t a very nice perspective. So she decided to RUN for her “entireness”. But awe! All the chambers were locked! luckily, the mechanism was simple and all she had to do was push around the statues to make them fit in their pink bases. Simple, but time consuming. And time was scarce…

Cheril in Cadàveriön

Cheril in Cadàveriön

Nintendo Entertainment System - Homebrew - 2018

Help Cheril in the sixth game in the Cheril Trilogy! You have approximately one minute to escape each of the four floors in the mansion, each floor being composed by five closed chambers. To progress from one chamber to the next, you’ll have to open the gate by means of pushing around every statue on the screen to their bases. If you get it wrong you can always restart the room by pressing «fire» over the blueish tile you will find in every room with statues. This will revert the room to the original position. You must hurry, because if the time runs out you’ll have to start the current floor over. Luckily, you can collect hourglasses for some more time, but be careful with the mansion inhabitants, who are everything but friendly. Controls: D-Pad: Move around A: ( with D-Pad ) push statue, activate title, pick up object.

This game is in Spanish so you probably won’t undestand a single word. But hey! Maybe it’s a good chance to learn! Basically Cheril is in another forest and must talk with the characters in a specific order. Talk to Johnny Limite first. Each character will tell you who to talk to next. Also, collect the food.

Cheril in the Cave

Cheril in the Cave

Nintendo Entertainment System - Homebrew - 2017

“Great reward for capturing the evil monster in the cave”, Cheril read in a notice placed in her local bulletin board. “Watermelon candy for life!”. So she put on her pink catsuit and rode her pink motorcycle at full speed to deal with such evil. And to get some candy. Control Cheril using the D-pad. Jump using the A button. Use the B button to interact with stuff (read signs, activate switches, pick up objects…). Cheril can only carry one object at once, so be careful and work it out.

Cheril of the Bosque

Cheril of the Bosque

Nintendo Entertainment System - Homebrew - 2015

In the Badajoz jungle lives Cheril, a common girl, just like every other girl of her age. She eats cucumbers, hunts panthers with her bare teeth, flys around using hanging vines and dresses with suggestive animal furs. Nothing out of the blue. But Cheril, niece in second degree of Tartan, the scottish of the apes, has higher expectations. She’s fed up with Eleuterio, the ever serious monkey, which condemns her explosions of crazy and espontaneous youthness, with the lewd stares from Mondongo the aborigin and his cousin Mojinganga, and with those damned snakes which ambush her from behind every bush in the jungle. She want’s something better. She’s decided to go to the city and become part of the “beautiful people”, just like her ancestor Tarzán of the Apes, which went to London and wore a nice Tuxedo. In fact, Cheril may leave whenever she’s arsed to go, but the journey is long: thirteen days on foot, so she needs to provide herself with enough food. She estimates that a giant nut a day will suffice, so that means that she needs to collect thirteen giant nuts before leaving. Go for it!

Cheril Perils

Cheril Perils

Sinclair ZX Spectrum - Homebrew - 2010

Cheril, thanks to her strenght and intelligence, was able to say goodbye to her homeland, the jungle of Badajoz, travel accross the dusty paths full of monsters, and arrive to the big city. Nevertheless, she repented at once of her decision: the pharmaceutic enterprise “Parasol”, founded in the 60s by a couple of aberrating mad doctors, had developed a special virus which could make people incredibly beautiful and they decided to make their tests on the poor city inhabitants. The problem wasn’t the virus itself, which was awesomely well crafted and worked flawlessly, but the cistern truck which was used to transport it to the city: it was used to transport heavy morapio double-malt and wasn’t properly cleaned after that. And, of course, everybody knows that beautifier virus plus morapio double malt makes infected people to become stupid brain-eating zombies. Cheril, completely unaware, arrived at the very same time the mayor of this town set up two enormous spiked boulders in the path which was used to enter and exit the city, after he had evacuated the very few “sane” inhabitants. When she realised, she was trapped inside. She wanted to exit the city, but the mayor wouldn’t remove the boulders while Zombies were still luring the city, so the only way for Cheril to escape from this doomed city is to slain the 60 zombies which walk around, so the mayor will remove the boulders and she can kiss this city goodbye!

You control Cheril. There’s plenty of things to do, and you’ll need special objects. Cheril can only carry ONE object at a time, so if you try to get a new one while you are carring an object, you will drop the one you carry in the place of the one you take. To get/interchange objects press DOWN. Besides, you’ll have to give those objects a use. To use an object, just walk to the place you want to use it and press DOWN. For Cheril to fly, she has to «push». You can make her «push» by pressing UP. But beware: «pushing» for too long drains Cheril’s vitality, so you have to do this carefully. Timing short «pushes» can make her gain momentum. Take your time to master the technique, it won’t take long. Cheril can also fire power balls. You can fire pressing FIRE. Power balls also drain Cheril, but think that enemies do quite a lot of harm. Use this feature wisely, and just when needed! Cheril can also regain her vitality by means of a special action we won’t reveal ‘cause it’s easy enough to find out! He lives alone in a small shed in the middle of the forest of Mnor, in the province of Badajoz (from the Parallel Universe). At first, Gepetus designed Phantomasa so she could serve him as a housemaid, but he ended caring about her and growing her up as his own child. One day, while they were sartando en la corchoneta, suddenly they heard a terrible noise. In a blink of the eye, a whole bunch of horrid buggy monsters were appeared out of nowhere: the evil Zenutrostidan Percenambapeck from the Fourth Galaxy. Phantomasa didn’t know what to do. She was paralized and couldn’t do anything about the monsters kidnapping his poor father. In a sudden, she heard a quiet whispering in her left ear, and then recognized her own voice. It was our own Universe’s Phantomasa, cheering her. “You are a raider robot! You have plenty of strength! Activate your breasty rainbows!”. Then Phantomasa (the one from the Parallel Universe) pushed and pushed from the inside, and felt the heat in her breast. Rainbow waves destroyed everything in sight! Now she felt capable. She would go through the four dimmensions, one by one, gathering in each the Onedons (small coin-like devices with an embossed 1) she needed to get to the next one. Once she got to the fourth dimension, the job was luring the Great Bicho Among Bichoes to the Daimos Ainama Ranger Securemtaidaimaidasu deadly trap, to crush it. Then she would save the Universe. Goku Mal

Goku Mal

Sinclair ZX Spectrum - Homebrew - 2013

Our good ol’ Eleuterio, the Serious Monkey, was a well known inventor. He started at a very early age with simple things such as sleeping pills or explosives, but soon grew to bigger things. Feeling lonely after Cheril left to become a Goddess, Eleuterio decided it was time to put all his knowledge to good use and build himself a beautiful female friend with whom he could spend long rainy afternoons playing cards or telling jokes. He started with the basic mixture of fluids in a big jar. Then he started adding some vegetables, so his future friend came out nice and healthy. Then he added proteins, so she was strong. He threw in some protein afterwards, so she was strong, and finally he added phosphor so the girl was smart and intelligent. But something went bad. Maybe he made a mistake with the mixture – because what came out the jar wasn’t precisely a beautiful woman… It was a Goku Bad! A brawny short man, with spiky hair and a funny face! Eleuterio was so angry that he took the creature and threw him to a mountain of ready-to-burn dirty socks (have you ever seen a monkey washing socks? They burn them all once they are dirty!) and flew, incredibly disgusted. But aye, Goku Bad soon awoke, and readily understood what had happened. He began to grow a sentiment of anger that soon became a thirst for blood and revenge. Beware, Eleuterio, Goku Bad is mad and is going after you!

Horace Goes to the Tower

Horace Goes to the Tower

Sinclair ZX Spectrum - Homebrew - 2011

Horace, whilst drunk and pining for the fame and the wealth of the old days back when he was a well known computer game star, gives in to the evil councils of that rotten old egg, Dizzy, and stars in some games on the Commodore 64 – a really obscure business. He really needed the money. Tragically, not only did the C64 games not lead to a revival of Horace’s Spectrum career but the C64 games, which he’d hope so desperately would be unnoticed by all, were announced to all and sundry in the gutter press! “Horace sells out in C64 shocker” went the headlines, to Horace’s utter dismay. Suddenly, no one in the street would look at him. The ZX Spectrum so-called mascot starring in C64 games! That’s a shock! He felt like Katie Price, only without the placky tits, but with a brain. He was so miserable that he didn’t even wait for the coppers to come and arrest him, instead going to the nearest nick by choice and giving himself in. The police handcuffed him and put him in the Tower of London, telling him that the next day he’d be beheaded. “Oh well, at least when I’m dead my suffering will be over”. “It bloody won’t be”, said a voice, and Horace whirled around to see the ghost of Sabre Man standing in the corner of the room. Horace jumped back in terror, and Sabre Man continued “There’s a special corner of gaming Hell reserved for sellouts, and that’s where you’re heading, and you’ll spend gaming eternity”. He paused then added “whooo-ooooooooooooo” to bring home just how scary Horace’s post death future was going to be. “I-I’ll escape from gaming Hell”, said Horace, “that’s what I’ll do. I will escape and then I’ll get to gaming Heaven somehow”. “No chance”, laughed Sabre Man, taking the same sadistic delight in Horace’s plight as he had when he’d witnessed thousands of kids spending their hard earned pocket money on that crappy excuse for a game Sabre Wulf, “There’s about as much chance of someone escaping from gaming Hell as there is of Joefish getting his lazy bottom in gear and finishing Buzzsaw.” “Actually, there is a way to help both of us. If you escape from here, and burn the master copies of your C64 games, and the master copies of other sell-out games, then you won’t go to gaming Hell”. “Fecking wow!”, cried Horace in delight, and he jumped up and ran to the door. He tried to open it, but it was locked, being a prison cell and all. “I’ll agree to open the door if you agree to find and burn the master copies of my two C64 games, Sabre Wulf and Underwurlde so that I’ll be freed from gaming Hell too”. “Fair enough”, nodded Horace, and the door disappeared and Horace exited the screen (no scrolling here, it’s a Speccy game!) and emerged into the corridor. Jumping over the first fatally deep gap between the floating platforms (if they had those in real prisons then they wouldn’t be over populated!) Horace began his mission…

IMPOSSAMAL

Sinclair ZX Spectrum - Homebrew - 2023

Everybody knows that when it comes to impossible missions, only the best can be called upon. In this case, there were none available and they had to turn to Led Baratas, a famous pilot and bounty hunter who is currently unemployed. The mission consists of entering THE TUNNEL (Badajoz galaxy to the right) and collect the 10 PODEWWWR Cylinders, enough to persuade the GOD OF THE TUNNEL not to destroy the videogame-mal universe. You will control the IMPOSSAMAL ship, which looks like a bouncing ball but it's not, it's super high-tech and if you press down (or shoot) you make it bounce at a lower altitude. Try not to get pricked by the spikes or crash into the bad pellets or lasers. Break blocks to move forward and make your way through with the key cards you find. You have 10 lives, and you can reload along the way. Remember, that's 10 PODEWWWR cylinders... not one more, not one less. Give them to the GOD and run back to where you came from before the TUNNEL explodes.

Lala the Magical

Lala the Magical

Nintendo Entertainment System - Homebrew - 2016

Lala the Magical is a 2D side-scrolling platformer based on the 2010 title Lala: Prologue by the same developer. It was originally created for the 2016 NESdev Competition. While the very early parts still have some resemblance to the original game, the majority of the content and the gameplay mechanics, as well as the story with its multiple stages and cut-scenes, is entirely new and very different. Lala is a magic apprentice in the province of Badajoz where she lives with her teacher. She is a little bored and when her teacher is away for a few days, she decides to try an enter the Sky Palace. It is a dangerous place her teacher has warned her about, but she wants to try to enter it and collect the three power gems that are hidden there. First Lala needs to locate her teacher's magic wand. This is done in the first stage which is the closest to the original game. Lala can move around freely, but has no means to attack. She has to complete platforming sections and avoid enemies to collect eight potions to become stronger and locate a key that opens the teacher's locked dungeon. Horizontally the screen scrolls but vertically the game uses the fixed-screen flip system of the original game to connect rooms. She starts with three lives and a single collision with an enemy or a hazard such as spikes removes one. Every now and then she can find a heart-shaped lollipop that restores a life.

Unable to control his irrepressible fondness for watermelon peanuts, the Duke was squandering the fortune that the Salvalamalvadetierras had treasured for centuries since his ancestor Victor Alberto Saavedra discovered the legendary treasure of the African tribe the Jamacucos (province of Badajoz) and invested it all in a shipping company, a mining exploitation, and a dating agency.

Mariano the Dragon: Capers in Cityland

Mariano the Dragon: Capers in Cityland

Sinclair ZX Spectrum - Homebrew - 2008

Mariano the Dragon: Capers in Cityland is a 2D platform game starring Mariano the Pink Dragon. Five of his friends have been locked by the Tetrarca Pachin Poi Poi on the planet Cityland and he has to rescue them. These friends are all characters by other games from The Mojon Twins or the developers: Chost-Embustes from the Chost-Embustes series, Horace from Horace Goes to the Tower, Nanako from the Nanako series, Phantomasa from the Phantomasa series, and Sgt. Helmet from the Sgt. Helmet series. They were all hired for a job, but messed up. To complete the game Mariano needs to finish their tasks and correct their mistakes. The game consists of a single, large level formed by a large amount of single-screen rooms connected both horizontally and vertically using the flip-screen mechanic offering a large amount of freedom. Mariano starts with 80 health and has no means of attack, so he has to avoid hazards and enemies. The main actions are moving around and jumping. There are many platforming sections to complete. Each friend is locked up in a different cell and five keys of different colours need to be found to open them. This can be done in any order. The corresponding key is only provided after that character's task has been completed. Completing a task often requires locating and picking up a specific item first. For Nanako you need to find her green boots and use them to defeat ten Karakasa enemies. For Sgt. Helmet a disk needs to be found to send plans of an enemy fortress using a computer terminal. Horace had to paint fifteen cans red and Mariano can do this once he has found a bucket of red paint. The Chost-Embustes were hired to rid a cave of ghosts. Mariano needs to collect five traps as well as the dematerializer and then head to the caves to trap five ghosts. Finally, Phantomas was meant to collect ten shooting stars as a source of energy. These can be found all over the level. Once a task is completed the key is provided right away.

Maritrini, Freelance Monster Slayer

Maritrini, Freelance Monster Slayer

Sinclair ZX Spectrum - Homebrew - 2012

After experiencing the sweet taste of success, Maritrini woke up one fine day in a mess of bed sheets and with the biggest hangover she could remember from her thirty five years of age. Dazed by the remains of alcohol in her system and the persistent smell of cigarettes which polluted the whole house, she collapsed over a chair in the kitchen in front of a rusty coffee mug. She still kept some signed books and the pictures taken during the filming of “Maritrini, Monster Slayer“, her most famous TV series, from which she still had recognition by the cashiers in the supermarket. However, since the series director Paul Duran was admitted to the Central Hospital with a bandaged face due to a sprained eyebrow (that’s what the medical report assured, at least) for eight weeks, everything changed for Maritrini. After such time, somebody who claimed to be the series director, but who didn’t look like Paul at all, fired Maritrini instantly. The young enterpreneur, far from feeling discouraged, started a refresher course about “how to manage your own business”, became self-employed and added a small sign in her mailbox: “Maritrini: if you have a vampire after you I will turn it into poo“. The catchphrase was her friend Dani Alamenasbarriel‘s original idea. Dani was a genius in marketing and avertising. That very morning the telephone rang. She looked for it amoung a bunch of paper sheets, pillows and plastic dishes covered with orange snacks until she finally found it. She answered and recognized the mysterious voice of her (new?) former boss at the other side of the line. He was somewhat alarmed and frightened. His daughter, his ONLY daughter, had been kidnapped by an evil organization which experimented to genetically modify human beings and turn them into monsters. An evil organization? Maritrini had never heared talking about something like that. When she tried to learn more about the whole matter from her former boss, the communication was cut. What was happenning? Somebody was trying to fill the city with blood scukers, zombies, amorphous beings? She didn’t recall Duran talking about a daughter… ever! Anyways, the only one able to solve this mystery is Maritrini herself, and Paul Duran is positive about that.

Maritrini, Freelance Monster Slayer en: Las Increibles Vicisitudes

Sinclair ZX Spectrum - Homebrew - 2012

This game is a prequel to “Maritrini, Freelance Monster Slayer”. Maritrini McAndrews, the famous actress with a starring role in “Maritrini, Monster Slayer”, has a really flamboyant life, full of meetings and parties. One morning, she woke up to an amazing hangover, with her one night stand lying to her side, in her huge mansion located at the outskirts of the city. A bad “absentas night”, some would say. She really has to hurry to get in time to an audition for “Vigorous Monsters with Shiny, Manly Chests”, which she intended to be her next big success in the movies. The only solution is jumping to her car and drive away to the studios, but FIRST she must complete some… “basic morning tasks”. Besides, there’s a mad pig wandering around the house (George Clooney missed her pet in one of the latest huge parties!) which is a real bummer. And, besides, Maritrini and her one night stand passed out while watching “The Goonies” late at night in cable TV, and the mixture of absenta, cathodic rays, and sleep privation made the Fratelli Family corporeus… and really angry. Those are really bad guys! Can you help Maritrini to complete her “basic morning tasks”?

Mega Cheril Perils

Sega Genesis - Homebrew - February 3, 2017

Mega Cheril Perils is a 2D platform game based on the 2010 ZX Spectrum title Cheril Perils. It keeps some elements of the original game as well as the premise, but both visually and for the gameplay there are many differences. The game stars the character Cheril. Wearing no clothes she leaves her homeland, the jungle of Badajoz, to start a life in the city. When she arrives there she discovers the city is overrun by zombies. A virus created by the pharmaceutic enterprise Parasol meant to make everyone beautiful was transported in a cistern truck not properly cleaned. The previous content was morapio double-malt and the mix of the two substances has an unusual side effect: it turns people into brain-eating zombies. Now the city has been shut down by the mayor using a barrier. The only way for Cheril to leave the city is by killing all zombies to clean the streets and convince the mayor the city is safe again.

Moggy Master

Sega Master System - Homebrew - 2015

In the Forest of Canutos, past the snowy peak of Jhijhamabad, located in the Northern Noronstronski, the bolotes from the village of Mu, near Kónrad, were celebrating a big party. The joyful music sounded among the trees, the flavour of the winery and the big feast impregned the ambience, thicker and more tasteful as the night went by. Lost among the craze, the evil Hibön the sorcerer, the greedy tetrarch from Boro, Goro, Sé and Pa, was about to execute his harmful plot: To achieve a higher magic power, he pretended to use bolote’s vital energy, heavy on rays, lightnings and ectoplasms. He had chosen the best chance: the bolotes, drunk and docile, feeling like never giving up partying, won’t resist at all. Like the legendary Hamelin flute player, he would mislead them to “keep partying elsewhere”, and that was exactly what he did. Forming a huge caravan, the bolotes submissively left the Canutos forest heading to Hibön’s realms. Moggy, the key figure of all parties, didn’t have a good one that night. Somewhat away from the binge, he was sleeping it off way too soon. The mouthwashes from the Fairies and spirits were making a mess in his stomach, and his mouth still burned for smoking of all those herbs from around the river, when he got up feeling lost, maybe awaken by the deafening silence which had spread across the whole valley. Stumbling, and without a complete control upon his moves, he discovered in awe that, in the far, really too much far away, a stooped shape guided the whole population of Mu to a dark horizon. Trying to focus with his reddened eyes, he soon recognized the figure as Hibön. That couldn’t be anything good, so, the best he could, he began a dangerous trip to rescue his friends.

Nanako Descends to Hell

Sinclair ZX Spectrum - Homebrew - 2009

Nanako thought that her life would be easy after she rescued her younger sister from the Monster Castle, but as soon as she got to her home village, she met the evil Yhóp-Uthas wreaking havoc and destroying everything… again. And when the Yhóp-Uthas were not busy breaking necks and burning houses, the Kah-Vronn-Azhos were, or the Tuj-Muer-Tso-Tsó, or even the Myby Ka-Gahn-Tó… Nobody seemed to take Nanako‘s village seriously, so Nanako decided that the situation had to change. The first thing Nanako did was getting incredibly angry and stomp forcefully her feet against the floor but, as such relieving action didn’t solve a thing, she decided to go see the Oracle. The guy, of inmense wisdom, advised her to go to Hell to look for 4 pieces of an ancient artifact which would turn to ashes any offender tribe which would attack the village. Nanako didn’t find that strange at all (we all know that in Hell you can find such kind of things), so she took her way down to Hell!

Nanako in Classic Japanese Monster Castle

Nanako in Classic Japanese Monster Castle

Sinclair ZX Spectrum - Homebrew - 2007

Mya, witch apprentice and Nanako’s younger sister, decided to break all rules in palace and, disobbeying his mentor’s orders, parted away to Heún Tower to improve her knowledge in dark magic. The old tower, surrounded by a magic halo knitted by God only knows who, was populated by a whole army of karakasas among a multitude of other kinds of tzukogamis (inanimated objects which become conscious after they are more than 100 years old). Commonly, they are not hostile at all but, the way Mya broke into the tower made them get very angry and become really dangerous. Poor Mya refugeed in a chamber located at the top of the tower, unable to descend the 25 floors and return home, surviving miserably during several weeks. Nanako, heavily worried about his sister’s disappeareance, made some research and soon discovered a dim clue which led her to follow her Sister’s path to the Heun Tower. Her mental connection with Mya made the rest. With firm step, Nanako entered the tower to rescue her sister. She just had to find her so they could together create a connection to be teleported to a safe place. Then main problem was to dodge all those karakasa to get to Mya!

Nanako in Classic Japanese Monster Castle

Nanako in Classic Japanese Monster Castle

Commodore 64 - Homebrew - 2010

Nanako in Classic Japanese Monster Castle is an adult 2D puzzle platform game. It is the third game in the Classic Japanese Monster Castle series, but the first to introduce Nanako as the protagonist as well as an adult theme. Initially released for the ZX Spectrum, it was rewritten from scratch for CPC by the same developers as a new team (called v2) and then also C64. The differences between the two versions are mainly in the visual presentation. The adult elements are only present in the loading and ending screens, not during the game itself. Nanako's sister Mya is a witch apprentice and broke the rules of her mentor. She leaves and heads to Heún Tower where she wants to improve her knowledge in dark magic. She breaks into the tower, angering an army of Karakasas and Tzukogamis (inanimate objects which become conscious after they are more than 100 years old), so she has to flee and hole up in the top of the tower. Nanako becomes worried after her sister's disappearance and follows her path through her mental connection with her sister. To bring her back to a safe place and reach her Nanako has to complete 25 rooms. Each room consists of a single-screen environment. They are linked vertically using the flip-screen mechanic to form a tower. The goal is simply to reach the top of the room each time, but this requires some environment based puzzle-solving. Next to dodging enemies Nanako also has to build her own path by picking up and dropping boxes to reach the top. Only one box can be carried at all times. Not all enemies are awake. Still Karakasa can also be used as temporary platforms, but there is a chance they wake up and then she drops down. Another technique allows Nanako to jump and drop a box in mid-air, creating a floating platform. Nanako starts with five lives. A password for each level is providing after completing it, using a custom Kun alphabet.

Phantomas Tales #4: Severin Sewers

Sinclair ZX Spectrum - Homebrew - 2012

The mysterious acolytes of the Vehjstiahows sect finally dominated the old Metro City, an ancient place formerly known for its explendour (in arts, culture, and good weath!), but which had became a decrepit and rusty ruin since. Cultivating assassin celery, they had developed an evil formula which had contamined the sewers with “goblin snot”, a substance which was capable of turning bricks in big, fat gold coins (just like those which can be seen in “Uwol, Quest For Money”). Far away, Phantomas was celebrating his 25th Birthday jumping in a trampoline with a naked woman eating tortilla, but in a sudden he felt like reading a random page from the Galactic History and Table Games Encyclopedia, which contained all that you need to know about table games and galactic history from year 4 until right now. Avidly reading, he found about the Vehjstiahows and decided that the best way to celebrate his birthday going back to his old ways: traveling there and stealing all the big fat gold coins he could.

Sinclair ZX Spectrum - Homebrew - 2013

Ramire, the Vampire is a game starring Ramire, a 500 year-old vampire. He lives in the wastelands of Transilvania and has a daughter Minna the Slaughter. The game consists of two chapters that can be selected right away from the main menu: «Ramire the vampire ain’t got a break!« and «Ramire gets back the Zaphire«. They have similar gameplay, but a different environment. It is a 2D platform game with single-screen rooms connected both vertically and horizontally offering room for exploration. In the first chapter where red is a dominant colour Ramire needs to steal the Rapture Treasure for his daughter because he forgot her deathday. It is locked up in a treasure chamber that can only be opened with magic. Ramire's friend Twitch the Witch will perform the spell to open it, but she wants the legendary German Talisman, an old jewel that has been split up in four parts. Ramire needs to collect the four parts and each one is hidden in a crypt filled with enemies and traps. Each crypt is owned by a different character: Hwang the Fang (a fellow vampire), Elegant Giant, Barf the Dwarf and Grant, the Servant. In addition Ramire cannot be exposed to the sun. Twitch gives him a Rearm Charm that protects Ramire for 32 seconds before it needs to be recharged in the shade. Ramire can freely explore and jump. As soon as he enters the sun a timer starts ticking down. He starts with 50 lives and additional ones are provided by collecting crosses as treasure. Ramire has no means to attack, he can only avoid enemies. In the second chapter where yellow is a dominant colour Weevil the Evil is introduced. It is a devil who used to own the German Talisman until Ramire stole it. In retaliation he kidnaps his daughter. He only wants to let her go if Ramire splits up the talisman again and puts each section in a shrine in one of his chambers. Similar to the four characters of the first game there are now four additional characters that are unhappy and guard the chambers. They are Weevil's minions who did not got paid and rise up. They are Jim Taylor, the Sailor (Weevil's driver), Fritz Barker the Banker (the account), Raiden the Dead Maiden (the housekeeper) and Dappen the Misshapen. To defeat them Ramire needs to activate a security device installed by Weevil near the entrance of each of their chambers.

The girls are having a real good time doing Rick Astley playbacks and hanging from the lamps, but soon enough they feel really hungry. It is well know that the best food for adolescent vampires is a good dish of bloody mushrooms from the forest near Cheshire (province of Badajoz). There are quite a lot of bloody mushrooms in the forest, but can be collected only during daylight. Luckily enough, the rearm charm is still working so Ramire is able to stay a while under the sun rays. But not for long, remember? Besides, his friend the Wimpy Wizard, has told him about a special kind of mushrooms. There are four of them and grow in the crypts beneath the forest: the four mushrooms with tits. So Ramire decides not to get back home until he gets 10 bloody mushrooms and 4 mushrooms with tits.

The papyrus is said to have been written by Aton himself, who was the Sun God, and is known for containing one of his dearest secrets. Drunk as he was, Ramiro thinks it's a great idea to gather the pieces of the papyrus because, by knowing Aton's dearest secrets, he could very well control the Sun and create a "portable night" of sorts around him to become the most fearsome vampire in the County (province of Badajoz). Without losing a minute, Ramiro sets off to the Pyramid. Collect the 4 pieces of papyrus and give them to Ramon. To do this, look for coins and give them to the altar to exchange them for items that you can give to the various characters you find in Abu Cimbrel's old palace. Sgt. Helmet: Training Day

Nintendo Entertainment System - Homebrew - 2013

Shortly before his infamous adventure in Khartadmocia (where he was sent to rescue 40 rescueable damsels) – about a couple of weeks earlier -, Sgt. Helmet was rolling snots with his pinky while feeling incredibly bored and disatisfied with the training methods used in his base. Mind you, he was a proud member of the top-3 thoughtest people on Earth alongside Chuck Norris and Katheleen Turner, and, in his opinion, jumping trampolines using jumping flip-flops and rolling under barbed wire in the mud was kind of depressing. That’s why fellow warriors Sgt. Pepperpot, Col. Miguel and Alm. Adamant designed an all-new training field for their good fellow Sgt. Helmet so he could properly train for an always possible, upcoming war or rugby match. The very day Jimmy the Lemur, his own pet, became of age (do the math: 15 lemurean years equal 4 dog years), the fellow warriors had something for Helmet: he got his eyes blindfolded, his lips rouged, and dressed with a cute blue taffeta blouse with matching skirt. Then he was told “we are sending you to a suicide mission to Kartadmocia – but before you have to pay us a little favor: set five bombs in the Defence Ultra Large Level computer, the DULL, and the come back to the base. Like?”. Still astonished, while inspecting the field maps about the location of the DULL computer, Helmet answered “Like”. Then, Helmet kissed Jimmy goodbye while he was putting out the last candle in the cake, carefully folded the taffeta clothes and put them back for more important commitments, put on his military boots (one marked with a red tag, other with a green one, so he would not be confused on which to put in each foot) and namesake helmet, and got ready for the mission!

Sir Ababol II: The Ice Palace

Sir Ababol II: The Ice Palace

Sinclair ZX Spectrum - Homebrew - 2014

Sir Ababol II: The Ice Palace is the sequel to the 2010 game Sir Ababol. It runs on the new La Churrera 4.0 / MT Engine MK 2 engines which introduce a number of improvements and new features, also demonstrated in the original game's updated release Sir Ababol DX that was released along with this title. After the events of the first game Sir Ababol has settled in the lands of Belchite. One day three rooks visit him with a message from king Yoghourteric, from the lands of Freezia, province of Badajoz, with a plea for help. He jumps on his horse Anastasio but is not sure what his quest is until he uses Minstrelbook, the Middle Ages social network, and discovers eight young princes and princesses are held prisoner in six towers in Fridgeland. There is more to it as a device has been invented which can extract knowledge for the brain. The king wants to use this device against the evil alchemist-druid Alastor de la Babucha, duke of Freezia and marquis of Fridgeland who challenge him to a game of gañote, but it accidentally turns every young prince into a bat. In this game Sir Ababol needs to climb the six towers of Freezia, fight the royalty-turned-bats and then destroy Alastor. In most versions of the original game Ababol could only avoid enemies. In the sequel he has a sword right away which he can use to strike in any direction. When hit by his sword, enemies freeze. The sword also adds to the platforming with some environment based puzzling as it can shatter blocks of ice and glass. Certain blocks can also be carried and put down somewhere else. The game consists of fixed-screen rooms linked horizontally and vertically offering some exploration. Often keys need to be located to open gates to progress. Some blocks contain items such as coins or extra lives. The bats at the top of the towers are tough opponents that can take multiple hits and fly around the screen in an irregular pattern. Some fights have two bats at the same time. There is a shop at the top of every tower to use the coins collected on the way to buy extra lives or a password. When played on a 128K Spectrum system there is vastly improved music and sound compared to the 48K system.

And that’s what happened: Uwol and Meemaid got lost and reached in the deepest side of the labyrinth – where Vampy, Franky, Fanty and Wolfy, plus the children’s favourite Cthulhy dwell. So you may guess it won’t be an easy task to escape with the money!"

Nintendo Entertainment System - Homebrew - 2016

Super Uwol is a 2D platformer created for the devkitSMS competition 2016 and it largely retains the concept of the original 2009 Uwol: Quest for Money by the same developers. Each room represents a single-screen platform level with coins and enemies. By moving through sides of the screen horizontally the character appears on the other side. When all coins are collected two exits appears and Uwol can choose a new level in the pyramid with some freedom for the path to follow based on the chosen exit.

Tenebra Macabre

Tenebra Macabre

Sinclair ZX Spectrum - Homebrew - October 31, 2013

Tenebra Macabre is a game made in a single day for Halloween. Mega Meghan has been locked up in a dark crypt by Jurufranto Morante. The only way out is by activating magic candles in each room. The game revisits a gameplay element previously explored in some areas of Phantomas Tales #4: Severin Sewers by the same developer where the entire room is dark and only a small radius around the character is visible. Fortunately there are flashes of lightning every now and then that light up the entire room briefly. The game contains a single level that consists of several single-screen rooms combined using the flip-screen mechanic. Each room contains a single candle. Mega Meghan has to complete platforming sections while avoiding enemies as she has no means of attack. The visible radius around her is in colour, but once the candle has been found the entire room is revealed and the screen is rendered monochromatic. There are 24 candles to be found and she starts with nine lives.

"Uwol didn’t have enough after earning about the 90% of all the income which resulted of selling retrovideogames in Spain and getting himself rich. Now he wants to experience the adventures of his good old idols while he keeps engrossing his bank account, ‘cause that’s the very matter of his existence. After gathering precious prizes following the steps of his favourite classic videogame heroes (this is, the fire which doesn’t burn -which looks great in the hall of his house-, the proton pistol with the proton charger, three knickers from Gremla, the book of bills of Miner Willy, Wally’s pajamas, the Sword of Power (just a copy, ‘cause the real one is in use), heaps of Saimaza coffee…), he learns that a mysterious and excentric millionaire, formerly a thief, hides quite a big fortune in gold coins in a very old manor next to Canutos Forest -the so-called Storm Palace. So he decides to emulate his idol Goodie and steal them! The problem is that it won’t be very easy… The cellar of Storm Palace are quite deep and are full of nooks and crannies. Besides, the intrincate disposition of rooms makes it very easy to get lost and go back to the starting point. That’s what happened to Uwol: his greed made him to get deeper and deeper into the manor so he got lost and trapped in the lowest labyrinth, inhabited by Vampy, Franky, Fanty and Wolfy, who will try by all means to make Uwol fail in his task." That's the story behind "Uwol, Quest For Money", an original speccy game by the spanish group "The Mojon Twins" already ported to several other systems. Now it's the turn for an MSX2 version made by Imanok.

Lin Lin knows the Frog King won’t be pleased until he receives _at least_ eight flies, and he’s blocking the toilet. Gosh, that’s a bummer. So she has to collect at least eight flies on her way to the toilet (which is located uhm… straight to the right) for the King to let her use it. The path is full of baddies which can hurt Lin Lin very badly, but luckily she can bounce on them with her butt. So good her mother made her eat so many mantous! If a baddie touches Lin Lin she will lose part of her clothes and will be vulnerable. Luckily you can regain your clothes with an item. If Lin Lin falls off a ledge or gets hurt by a baddie she will have to start over, unless she touches a magic poo to save her progress. If she gets killed, she’ll be respawned where the poo was. Lin Lin also knows that if she happens to get to the frog with more than 8 flies, she’ll gain access to the celestian realm (i.e. the bonus stage) where she can gain some extra flies which will count for the second segment of each level… … which has an autoadvancing scroll. Lin Lin shouldn’t let the screen go faster than her, she must RUN. And she still has to collect the flies. And pee.

Yun

Yun

Nintendo Entertainment System - Homebrew - July 8, 2016

Every Autumn, in the boggy marsh near of the shores of Lake Potoña (Province of Badajoz), one could witness the hatch of the eggs of the rare Romani Heron. Some of the most famous ornithologists have described the scene as one of the most beautiful experieces they had experimented on a friday evening. Very rarely, for some strange reason, one of the eggs produces a red demon with a big hairdo instead of the expected gray and wrinked baby bird. This is how Yun came to life. It was already late, almost dusk, so she couldn’t see very well. As demons are usually born incredibly hungry, she began eating what she found – and one of such things was a toothpaste tube somebody had left among the bushes. Such an accident, nevertheless, proved being really useful, as Yun gained the ability to produce bubbles from her mouth, and she soon learned how to capture all kinds of animals in them. Just a few months on, she founded her very own Japanese food reastaurant by the marsh. With her incredible ability, she could trap even the rarest specimen of fish and made the finest sushi in Badajoz. Everything was going great, until one night where, while hunting in the dark waters, she was about to trap a big and shiny orange fugu fish as it appeared from behind a bunch of seaweeds. The fish looked her in the eye and it was love at the first sight. Sadly, the fugu knew about Yun’s activities and got the chills so it escaped. Yun, make up for all the damage done, decided to change the nature of her business: instead of serving raw fish to the customers, he’d server raw customers to the fish.

Zombi Mall

Zombi Mall

Sinclair ZX Spectrum - Homebrew - September 7, 2022

The goal is to escape alive from the mall where you have taken shelter from the horde of the undead. You will have to use ingenuity to achieve it. You'll be able to interact with almost the entire game scene, although not everything will be useful to you. Collect items, combine them and use them to solve the puzzles. Avoid zombie attacks as they can sometimes cause serious injuries that you will need to heal and clean up. Stay away from them, luckily their field of vision is limited. Dispel them by passing through one of them without making sudden movements rubbing against the corpses, but be careful not to spend a lot of time with the putrid fluids on top of you as you, just some fluid on a scratch could get you infected and become one of them! And above all, avoid leaving the mall, the horde will be waiting anxiously to savour you. Will you be able to escape?

To be able to move to the purgatory, Santos must open a door and, for that, he needs spiritual energy. The only way to get enough spiritual energy is gathering up to sixteen crucifixes in the graveyard. The problem is that it won’t be an easy task. The graveyard is infested of monsters. Santos, carrying a powerful shotgun, should be able to eliminate them without much of a hassle, although this won’t be always a good idea, because dead monsters will come back in the shape of winged spirits which will pursue you relentlessly and which are much more difficult to dodge. Luckily, they are almost blind so if you hide in the background and don’t move they will stop seeing you and they’ll go away. Usually you can hide behind pinacles, big trees and the weeds growing in the corners or next to a wall. You will soon discover which places are good hideouts and which aren’t. If you think you are hiden but spirits keep approaching… Look for a better place! Finding the best hideouts, being patient and shooting only when needed are the keys of success in your mission.
