Archer Maclean's Pool

MS-DOS - Released - 1992

Using the game engine from Jimmy White's Whirlwind Snooker, this game recreates pool in minute detail. Three versions of pool are offered - UK and US 8-ball as well as the fast-paced all-action 9-ball game. There are 20 computer opponents, with the hardest of them being almost unbeatable, as well as two-player and trick-shot modes. Unlike the original release of Whirlwind Snooker, you can save more than one game on the disk at a time.

Once you hit a car or a piece of the trackside scenery you will be called into the pits - fail to make it back, or hit another car, and you will crash and lose several seconds.

Mick & Mack as the Global Gladiators

Mick & Mack as the Global Gladiators

Super Nintendo Entertainment System - Unreleased

Mick & Mack was a McDonald's licensed game developed by David Perry at Virgin Games. It appeared on various Sega systems and the Amiga, though they cancelled the SNES version. It is a platform shooter game with an environmental theme. The game was shown at the Winter 1993 CES, apparently after the Genesis version was already out. If one was to venture a guess, it probably wasn't completed because it would have come out too long after the Genesis version, and possibly too close to the release of Cool Spot. The in-game copyright screen says 1993, so it was almost certainly in development after the Genesis version was already released.

ENJOY FRANTIC oriental action in this Ninja beat-em-up. Search for kidnapped children and dispose of marauding thugs with blows from feet, fists and shuriken stars. Classic SEGA coin-op thrills! One hot summer's day, everything began to go wrong. As the most famous graduate of a secret oriental Ninja school, you had been invited back to the annual graduation ceremony and prize-giving. Having enthralled the junior classes at the assembly with your tales of international ninjiing, you were just about to move on to handing out prizes to the seniors when there was a flash of Dark Ninja Magic and Bwah Foo made an unscheduled appearance. Few of the pupils realised who Bwah Foo was, but within a ninja-second you had identified him and realised that this once-illustrious graduate of the Ninja school had turned to the Dark Ways. Transfixed by Bwah Foo's Holding Magic, you were unable to move a muscle oven twitch a tendon as Bwah's henchmen led away the entire junior class. Then the evil Foo issued his personal challenge to you. With one mighty bound he somersaulted onto the speech-giving platform and thrust his face in front of yours. "Why if it's not Joe Musashi", he sneered, "Old Goody - Two Shurikens himself. Well, well, well." (Clearly the quality of teaching on the Dark Side has slipped abominably, you thought to yourself, as Bwash Foo ranted on in clipped baddie-speak, the like of which was normally reserved for second-rate pantomimes is seaside towns.) "... well, well, well. It's gold I want", Foo continued, "all the gold in the School's coffers. And if I don't get my gold by Wednesday evening I'll kill every last member of the Junior Class and THEN you'll be sorry." And with a maniac crackle and a flash of green Ninja Magic, he was gone.

Untitled Racing Game

Super Nintendo Entertainment System - Unreleased

There is not a whole lot to say about this game. It appears to be a one track demo of a top-down racing game, presumably by Virgin Games. There is a two player split-screen mode already implemented. The controls are smooth, and the music and sound effects are solid. The graphics are ok, but the cars are really squished. As far as I can tell, no finished game ever came from this. There are some fragments of Super Bomberman in the ROM image, which was likely burned onto the EPROMs prior to this demo.
