3D Pets: Splat! The Cat

Windows - 1997

3d Pets: Splat! The Cat is one in a series of nine virtual pets released by Neechez Innovation Limited. All the games play in a similar manner. When installed the player has two new programs in the Windows Start menu, hatch.exe and, with this game, pcpet.exe. All creatures are first hatched, there are nine cats to hatch but only one can be alive at a time and the game only allows the player to hatch egg number one when the game is first played. Each virtual pet needs at least ten minutes attention per day and if treated well it lives for sixty days at which point it becomes an egg again at which point a new egg is hatched and the process of training begins all over again. The game screen consists of a background around which the cat moves, in the upper left is a fish skeleton which is a hotspot for the game control menu, in the upper right is a question mark which opens the in-game help. The game control menu comprises a series of numbers and icons, the numbers show the cat's current status, some of the icons move the player from one location to another while others turn the cursor into one of the cat's toys. The game is basic and quite easy to play, thought buttons appear over the cat's head showing whether it's hungry or wants to play. When in the kitchen the player can open a cupboard to get cat food, or they can open the fridge to get milk, to put into the feeding bowls. In the TV room the TV can be turned on to entertain the cat and if the fire is lit the cat will fall asleep in front of it. If the player is unable to play with their pet for a few days the game has a 'babysitter' function which automatically cares for the cat until the owner returns. The game also allows the player to play 'Connect 4' with their pet.

48 Night Story

NEC PC-9801 - Released - August 21, 1992

48 Night Story has, despite its name, no story (on the game's title screen, the number "8" is written by combining the international signs for "male" and "female"...). The game is entirely dedicated to sex and can be therefore considered a sex simulation. There are 48 young girls to choose from. Each of them has a name and a short biography, including likes and dislikes, sexual experience, etc. After choosing a girl, the game has to match her portrait by clicking on one of the four cards hiding pictures of different girls. Then the player goes through the girl's bio, asking a limited amount of questions. Then it is time to choose one of the many available sexual positions, trying to choose the one the girl would be most comfortable with, according to her data known to the player. The actual sex scene proceeds then automatically.

7 Grand Steps, Step 1: What Ancients Begat

7 Grand Steps, Step 1: What Ancients Begat

Windows - Released - June 7, 2013

7 Grand Steps: What Ancients Begat is a story of a family dynasty, translated into a board game. The game starts with the player choosing a specified legend the family dynasty wishes to aim for: climbing the social ladder, discovery, or heroic deeds. Each legend may significantly alter how the game is played, providing benefits or even disadvantages to the player. These legends requires a specified amount of khet or points, which are to be acquired during the board game. The Wheel of Life The board game, a form of wheel of life, starts with a young husband and wife in the labor class during the Copper age, each with a set of skills. Each turn, either individual may attempt to create tokens (by using an ingot), which will produce a random amount of tokens, depending on their skills. Movement requires using existing tokens on the game board. An irrigation token for example, allows the selected individual to move to the nearest irrigation tile. Some tiles may have khet bonuses on them. Moving an individual on that tile will acquire half of the khet, which will contribute points towards the family's legend. Some khet bonuses are larger than others and other non-player characters (NPCs) i.e. neighbours will also attempt to attain these bonuses before the player. With each turn, time passes, bringing each of the individuals on the board closer to the crocodiles, which means certain death. Thus, the player must balance between token creation, movement, and acquiring khet in order to avoid this fate. During this time, random events may occur, contributing to a generational story for the family. Up to a certain point, movement tiles will stop producing, marking old age. At this point, the player chooses a successor from the children of the family to start a new generation. Family and Children A new generation family, may it be female or male, must first find a suitable mate to start a family. A few candidates of NPCs are available, which the player must move the character to the same tile location to court and hopefully, wed. As husband and wife, working together may produce offspring. A single family may acquire up to six children, though only one of them is chosen by the player to start a new generation. Children may optionally be taught to advance their skills by giving them tokens produced by their parents. If the family has more than one child, fairness should considered, as favoring one child over the other, may result in sibling rivalry. Sibling relations, may it be love or hate between siblings will carry on through the generations.

Actual Sunlight

Actual Sunlight

Windows - January 3, 2013

Actual Sunlight is a short interactive story about love, depression and the corporation. The game puts you in the role of Evan Winter, a young professional in Toronto, as he moves through three distinct periods of his life. The story is linear, unavoidable and (hopefully) thought-provoking. You experience his perceptions, fall under the consequences of his decisions, and meet everyone who didn't change him. Gameplay is minimal, and serves only to move from one part of the (admittedly) text-heavy story to the next. The game fiercely attempts to be worth it.

You will send scouts to explore the ruined city, repair and maintain outposts while trading with other factions to survive. Contrary to most games in this genre, After The Collapse, on top of being a fairly complete base-builder, allows you to interact with the world outside of your base. You can send expeditions to loot ruined buildings or to take control of production centers. Other factions have the same goals as you, and your paths will inevitably cross.

AKB 48 no 1 Idol to Koi shitara

Sony PSP - Released - December 23, 2010

AKB1/48: Idol to Koishitara... is a romance adventure game featuring all the girls from AKB48 pop idol group. The story begins in a dreamlike situation where all the girls are in love with you, but in the end, you will have to choose only one. AKB48 (AKB is abbreviation of Akihabara, an electronic town in Tokyo) is a j-pop idol group with 48 members in total. Members aren't constant and their popularity is based on votes by the fans of the group. This is the first game in the series and takes place in Tokyo (background images during visual-novel style gameplay are photos from various known locations in Tokyo). The game mostly plays like a visual novel which features real-life locations and actual idols in various poses over the background image instead of anime art. The game progresses one day at the time where you spend with one of the idols, either on a date or in casual talk. The player is given a list of letters sent to you by AKB48 girls with their profiles. Based on who sent you the message, you can reply to it which eventually leads you to a date with that person. You can use the phone to call the person of interest and set a date. During the date part which plays as a visual novel, there will be a dialogue selection which will show the girl you're with if you're rude, indifferent or like her. This in turn may prompt her to contact you again at the beginning of the next day. Some correspondence occurs irregularly when the girl liked how she felt when she was with you on previous dates. Likewise, addresses of the girls you were rude with will disappear from the list until only one remains. Initially, all 48 girls are listed as your potential girlfriends. During special so called escort event scenes, idols will wear a special outfit just for you. Any event scene during visual novel gameplay lets on-screen text be toggled off and allows for certain amount of zooming. Various unlockables such as visual cards, event scenes, and steel photos can accessed from the menu, while collected cards can be traded with other players. AKB48 soundtrack does not need to be unlocked and can be listened via BGM player. It additionally lets the player select default BGM song and theme song for each of the ABK48 members. Voice-acting for each of the AKB48 girls in the game is done by AKB48 members.

The setting itself is not the only thing differing from the first game. This game features new poses and photo shots with different clothes (the more showing kind) and re-recorded voice-acting by AKB48 members for the new scenario. The game progresses one day at the time where you spend with one of the idols, either on a date or in casual talk. The player is given a list of letters sent to you by AKB48 girls with their profiles. Based on who sent you the message, you can reply to it which eventually leads you to a date with that person. Angel Graffiti: Anata he no Profile

Sony Playstation - Released - July 26, 1996

Angel Graffiti is a visual novel romance simulation game for PlayStation, ported a year later to Sega Saturn under the name Angel Graffiti S. The player character is a high-school sophomore student, whose name, nickname, birth date and blood type is decided by the player at the beginning of the game. One day, while walking through the park, you notice a beautiful girl, but don't really manage to make a good impression on her and she soon goes away. The next day, your homeroom teacher announces you have a new student joining your class ... her name is Misuzu Amano ... the girl you met a day ago in the park. Your luck didn't completely run out as now you will have plenty of time to try and make an impression on her and possibly make her fall in love with you. But she is not the only girl in school that caught your eyes, so you will have to decide who is your person of interest and who you will try to woo. Luckily for you, you are not alone on your quest, you will have a help from heaven itself, an angel by the name Eve, who will often give you advice on girls' feelings. The basic gameplay is similar to visual novel style with dialogues and occasional selectable answers, but while you're in your room you'll be able to perform some other actions such as study, work part-time to earn some income, ask Eve for advice, set events on your calendar, join the school clubs and similar options. While dialogues use typical anime character style to represent characters, each of the main heroines also has a small figure-like character that represents her. They come in five different degrees of emotions between love and hate, the middle one being neutral, neither loving nor hating you. The game features animations for certain memorable events, while the dialogues mostly use static images with different postures. Voice-acting is included but is not complete, meaning even the heroines that talk during dialogues do not talk throughout all of their dialogues bust only some of them.

Angelique is a series of "neo-romance" games by Koei from Ruby Party with character designs by shoujo manga artist Yura Kairi and music by Kuzuu Chinatsu. The gimmick is that it the games are by women for women. You play a teenage girl named Angelique who has been chosen by Queen Angelique (all the Queens seem to be named Angelique) and her aide Dia as one of two candidates from the Royal Smorny Girls Academy to become the next Queen. You are transported to the Flying City to begin your final examination. Each of you is given a land to populate. Whoever finishes populating their land first wins and becomes the next Queen. You do this with the help of nine Guardians who use their powers to make your people happy, or to devastate your rivals. Along the way, you become friends with the Guardians and can fall in love. If you choose love, you forfeit your chance to become Queen, but you live happily ever after. Angelique Duet allows the player to choose the usual heroine, Angelique Limoges, or her rival Rosalia de Catargena, as the main character.

Angelique Etoile

Angelique Etoile

Sony Playstation 2 - Released - September 16, 2004

Angelique étoile is considered the fourth main installment of the Angelique series. Its PlayStation 2 port is one of the projects made for Neoromance's tenth anniversary. It is the first game in the series to not provide Angelique as the default name for the protagonist. Yuki Hori and Mami Matsushita are the producers; Kazuyuki Nakasa is the director. Midori Kusanada is the scenario director. Nobumasa Takagi composed the music. The Premium Box edition includes a collector's plate. The PS2 Premium Box has a character message CD, a scarf and a set of greeting cards. Consumers who purchased the Windows version early using Gamecity Shopping received an illustrated box sleeve with their purchase. PLOT: The protagonist is a normal high school girl who was born in the Sacred Bird Cosmos. She and many other girls act as school representatives for a field trip to Holy Land the day after her seventeenth birthday. Like the other girls, she is asked by the Sacred Guardians to walk through a series of doorways. Her path ends at a mystical stone slab which shimmers in her presence. Moments afterwards, a spirit takes the form of her treasured childhood doll to inform her that she is the legendary étoile, or a celestial messenger for the cosmos. Her mission is to help nurture the Sacred Beast Cosmos's growth within a year (365 days). GAMEPLAY: The player can name their protagonist and assign her birthday and bloodtype at the start of each game. Choose whichever doors and text options from the introduction sequence to slightly alter starting Intimacy ratings with the romanceable characters. The protagonist can move freely between the Sacred Bird Cosmos, Arcadia (Celestia) and the Sacred Beast Cosmos. Main story events advance only when the player focuses on the cosmos. The general gameflow for completing the main storyline is a repeated cycle of steps: Receive Sacrea from Sacred Guardians. Distribute Sacrea to Sacred Beast Cosmos until a planet's culture develops. Pacify the Sacrea Spirit which emerges. Visit the Guardians-to-be three times and convince them to come to Holy Land. If the player wishes to see the good default ending and/or romance every character, they will need to repeat the recruiting cycle nine times. Traveling between planets in the Sacred Beast Cosmos requires the protagonist to board the Flying Ship, Aurora; the captain will inform players of the time needed for a one-time trip to their highlighted destination before departure. The time needed for fostering the cosmos may negate romance events if the player plans poorly. Nineteen characters can be romanced: the Sacred Guardians for both cosmoses and Arios. Arios is available in subsequent playthroughs. The player must have at least 2 unused, one Sacred Beast guardian and must visit Rachel on Fridays in order to see him. Visit him three times and select the correct text options to unlock the chance to romance him like other characters. Intimacy and Affinity are the only two attributes for affecting a character's affections for the protagonist. Lovelove Flash, the "Charm" option at Sacred Beast's House of Divination, continues to be the only way of changing Affinity. étoile increases the number of opportunities for boosting Intimacy between a male character and the protagonist. The limited edition Premium Box of Angelique Etoile includes: 1) Angelique Etoile game 2) Artwork placard collection 3) Cast recording and game BGM CD which contains 50 tracks 4) A silk handkerchief which measures 53cm×54cm

Angelique Trois

Angelique Trois

Sony Playstation 2 - Released - November 22, 2000

Angelique is a video game series. Currently, the series has only been released in Japan, with the exception of a Chinese PC version of the first game in the series. It is somewhat popular with overseas import gamers, who have started petitions in the hopes of English-translated releases of various games in the series. KOEI mentioned in an issue of Newtype USA that it is a possibility if enough demand is shown. The basic lore of the series is built around a Queen who fairly and wisely rules a Cosmos. By balancing elemental forces with the help of nine Guardians, she keeps the various planets in her domain stable and her people content. However, the powers of the Queen and the Guardians fade over time, and successors must be appointed. In the first game and its various remakes, the protagonist is a 17-year-old girl named Angelique Limoges who has been chosen by the current Queen and her aide Dia as one of two candidates from the Royal Smallney Girls' Academy to become the next Queen. She is transported to the Flying City to begin her final examination. Angelique Trois: Third installment in the series. Angelique Collet, now queen of a new cosmos, is drawn into a pocket cosmos, Arcadia, with the rest of the Angelique Special 2 cast. She develops the wilderness of Arcadia in order to free Elda, a strange being she finds there. In Angelique Trois (the name of the PS2 edition) "Angelique" refers to the lead character, a young girl thrust into the theater of world events as the leader of her nation. To adapt, survive and move forward in the world, she has to quickly learn the ropes of international diplomacy, dealing with the threat of other nations and the mysteries of an unexplored continent. There's also the threat posed by her many dashing suitors, who have their eyes on the power held by an unattached female ruler. She has the help of her teachers and advisors, though, who you can consult for assistance in difficult situations.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Nintendo Switch - Released - March 20, 2020

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a life simulation video game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch console. It is the fifth main series title in the Animal Crossing series. As in previous installments in the Animal Crossing series, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a nonlinear life simulation game played in real-time. The player assumes the role of a customizable character who moves to a deserted island after purchasing a vacation package from Tom Nook. The game proceeds in an open-ended fashion as the player explores the island, and develops it into a community of anthropomorphic animals. Similarly to the 2017 spin-off title Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, the game introduces a crafting system that allows the player to convert materials into tools and furniture, which can be used to decorate the game's interior and exterior spaces. Nook Miles, a new in-game currency earned by accomplishing various tasks, can be used to purchase premium items. The game allows the player to select their character's skin color, a feature introduced in the 2015 spin-off title Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer appearing for the first time in a main series Animal Crossing title. The game's weather also adjusts to the seasons of the Northern and Southern Hemisphere depending on the player's real-world location, a first for the Animal Crossing series. New Horizons supports both local and online co-op gameplay, with up to four players locally and eight players online able to occupy an island at a given time.
