140

140

Windows - Released - October 16, 2013

140 is a minimalistic puzzle platformer where timing is often tied to the rhythm of the music and visuals. The player controls a white cube that can go left, right or jump in an abstract environment with pulsating visuals and music. The cube changes form based on movement; it turns into a ball going left or right, and into a triangle when jumping. This is purely an aesthetic change and has no influence on the gameplay. The game consists of three large levels divided into smaller sections with checkpoints. To progress various platform puzzles need to be completed. These include regular jumps, temporary and moving platforms, grey parts that cannot be touched, temporarily reversed gravity, platform movement based on sound and more. To complete a section a small ball needs to be collected. When it is brought back to a large container, the next section is loaded. Each of the three levels ends with a boss encounter, each time with a completely different mechanic to defeat them. When the game is completed a mirror mode is unlocked where each of the three levels can be replayed in reverse. In addition these need to be completed in one go as dying immediately returns you to the main game hub.

In the game there are no barriers. If there are any, it’s only the imagination! This game is for everyone who wants to improve their quick thinking and the related skills. A Dance of Fire and Ice

Windows - Released - January 25, 2019

A Dance of Fire and Ice is a simple one-button rhythm game. Press on every beat of the music to move in a line. Every pattern has its own rhythm to it. It can get difficult. This game is purely based on rhythm, so use your ears more than your sight. Note that it is quite strict and unforgiving, so please play the online version here if you're not sure if this is for you! If you've played the Rhythm Heaven series - this is about as strict as that. Features: •Explore the cosmos: Soar through each genre of music in a variety of colorful fantasy landscapes. •Predict every moment: With a track that shows you every rhythm ahead of time, you’ll learn to sight-read levels as they come. No tricks, and nothing is reaction-based. •Play new levels for free: Tackle new songs and new rhythms as we expand the game with free level patches over the coming months. •Calibrate your experience: Manually adjust your calibration on-the-fly, or use our auto-calibration method. The game is precisely timed, and you won’t experience any slow desync over time like you might with other music-based twitch games. (We’re musicians and off-sync games hurt us.)

Anime Hero

Anime Hero

Sony Playstation 2 - ROM Hack - January 1, 2005

Anime-worshipers who follow the Japanese animations faithfully know that Japanese bands get a lot out of j-rock or Japanese rock in the opening and closing episodes, where they become more popular. With so many quality songs an anime fan decides to create a Guitar Hero 2 hack. Very creative, high quality even though it's a hack. Good ! let's talk a little bit about him now. We know that the acclaimed Guitar Hero series became popular on Ps2 in mid-2005. The genre game emphasized the most popular of rock music styles. In Harmonix's Guitar Hero we could pick a fictional guitarist to play, and with him play many well-known songs with the band. During the songs the player had to hit a sequence of buttons given on the screen on a guitar neck, hitting this sequence the player continued the song. In fact there is not much to talk about because everyone must have played or seen someone play. So using the Guitar Hero engine an anime fan decides to create a hack, (a hack is an edit or modification made by the players themselves using computer programs) exchanging the original songs for anime songs. The songs are all related to anime, in Anime Hero what is not lacking are tributes to them. Starting with a new opening, (opening taken from anime Beck) and a modified interface. There have also been changes to the guitars, with items popular among successful anime. Most of the new songs were taken from the anime openings, including Naruto, Bleach, Dragon Ball Z, Digimon, Pokemon, Samurai X, Death Note, Zodiac Knights and many others.

Anomalies: the Generative Art Game

Windows - Released - October 28, 2016

Anomalies may be a game, then again it may not. One user described it as "A million musical leeches, waiting to suck the serotonin from my brain." Another said "I don't even know what to say about this one. It honestly freaked me out a little." A particularly enthusiastic user stated "Wish I had some kind of supercomputer to push the limits on this thing... I'm pretty sure it would reveal the secrets of the universe." A Fine Art Game Anomalies is an experimental generative art game. There are no levels, points or objectives. It is a "game" in the loosest sense of being an amusement or pastime, an interactive piece of audio-visual, virtual sculpture, which one can tinker around with and explore. Generate and Explore You can randomly generate the anomalies, or you can change the anomaly's parameters manually with a series of sliding dials in order to tweak your creation. Use the controls to explore Anomalies, and the unique sights and sounds they generate. Sights and Sounds Anomalies are both audio and visual phenomena, the parameters that effect one effect the other. Some are strange and discordant entities, while others are symmetrical and harmonious. All the images and "songs" you hear in the demo video were produced through the program's algorithms. Other Options Using a built in screen capture button, you can collect snapshots of your handiwork. Use it as desktop wallpaper, or share it with your friends. If you want to revisit a favorite anomaly, you can also save it and load it again later. There is also an auto timer feature that cycles through anomalies automatically, allowing you to sit back and enjoy the show. Experimental I call Anomalies "experimental" because of the way in which I developed it. I started with a simple idea - "what would trees look like if they grew in space?" - and began to create fairly simple, branching structures. Once that was working, I thought about different colors and textures. Each stage brought new questions and possibilities - "what if they move or wiggle? What it they make sounds? What if they produce flames or particles?" - and so on, until I arrived at what you see in the program. So I had no idea what it would end up like when I started it. Though I have moved on to other projects, I still think about more possibilities for Anomalies. I do hope to be able to return to working on this program at some point, but I will not give any promises right now...

Band Hero

Band Hero

Microsoft Xbox 360 - November 3, 2009

Band Hero is a spinoff video game as part of the Guitar Hero series of music rhythm games, released by Activision on November 3, 2009, for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii and Nintendo DS consoles. The game is structurally similar to Guitar Hero 5, and supports full band play (lead and bass guitar, drums, and vocals) including the drop-in/drop-out and in-song instrument and difficulty change menus, and additional multiplayer modes as Guitar Hero 5. The console versions use instrument-shaped game controllers, while the DS version uses either the "Guitar Grip" introduced with the Guitar Hero: On Tour series or a new Drum Skin that comes with the game. Like previous games, virtual avatars of Taylor Swift, Adam Levine, and the band No Doubt are presented in the game. Band Hero received mixed reviews from journalists. Some considered the game to be an appropriately flavored version of Guitar Hero 5 for the "Top 40" pop rock hits, while others felt the game was strictly aimed at teenagers. They also contested the cost of the full game, featuring only 65 songs compared with 85 songs in Guitar Hero 5, and considered if the content would have been better in downloadable form. A day after the game's release, the band No Doubt sued Activision, citing similar misuse of their avatars as the Kurt Cobain avatar in Guitar Hero 5.

Band Hero

Band Hero

Sony Playstation 3 - Released - November 3, 2009

Band Hero is a karaoke/rhythm based game, similar to the Guitar Hero games, but directed at the pop loving teenage crowd, as well as a more group based party game (unlike with guitar hero, full band instruments are included from the beginning of the series). The instruments are the same as in the more recent GH games. You have the microphone for vocals, guitars for either lead or bass guitar and the drum kits for drumming along. Accordingly, each instrument has its own 'career' path in game. If you are doing the vocals for your band, you have to sing along in time to the music, matching the pitch as closely as possible. Lead and bass guitar is played by holding down the fret buttons and strumming as the appropriate fret icons cross the strike line on screen. Drums are done similar to the guitars, hitting the correct drum pad's/cymbals at the correct time. The better you do, the more points you score, however if you make too many mistakes, you will fail the song. You can either play alone on any of the instrument careers, or you can play with up to three friends on one console or online to compete with other players and bands from across the world. Songs featured include Duran Duran's Rio, Don McLean's American Pie, Evanescence's Bring Me To Life and Queen's Crazy Little Thing Called Love.

Barrier X

Windows - Released - May 27, 2016

BARRIER X is a very fast avoiding game similar in spirit to a title like Super Hexagon or Race the Sun. The player needs to steer a ship through seven endless, bright neon worlds unlocked gradually. The goal is to survive as long as possible, simply by moving left or right to avoid barriers. The ship goes very fast and a single collision ends the run, so there is an additional visual cue. Lanes with barriers ahead turn red, so the ship need to be moved quickly left or right to move into a dark lane. There are no borders to the track, making it possible to move left or right endlessly. Every fifteen seconds the game is sped up. To unlock a new level it is required to survive for 30 seconds and a level is marked completed after surviving 60 seconds. Next to aesthetic differences, levels introduce new elements such as blue barriers. These block the ship's trajectory, so it is required to follow the arrows to avoid blocking. When stuck in a lane an additional action can be used to escape. The game has leaderboards to compare scores worldwide. The mobile versions are free-to-play with a single in-app purchase to remove all ads permanently.
