Corpse Party: The Anthology: Sachiko no Renai Yuugi: Hysteric Birthday 2U

Sony PSP - Released - August 2, 2012

Sachiko Shinozaki, tragically murdered at age 7; such a sweet girl, taken away at such a young and tender age! Sure, she may have reacted by becoming a bloodthirsty, vengeful spirit responsible for the deaths of countless other children, as well as their erasures from history, but everyone knows that in her heart of hearts, she’s just an ordinary, innocent little 7-year-old…right? Well, no. Because you see, today is her birthday! She’ll be turning…7 again, naturally. But in celebration, she’s decided to grant all her victims 24 hours of amnesty from their suffering by gathering them all together for a…hysteric? birthday bash. There will be party games, entertainment, adventure, and most of all, romance! Join Sachiko and the lovable cast of damned souls from previous Corpse Party games—along with a few new faces—as they take the very concept of genre and toss it aside. Prepare to experience terror, discomfort, joviality, and confusion in equal measure as Heavenly Host Elementary plays less-than-heavenly host to cooking contests, co-ed mixers, interpretive stage drama, traditional party games, and Lovecraftian horrors alike. Because you know what they say: Hell hath no fury like a 7-year-old girl bored… A (surprisingly) canonical “midquel” to Corpse Party and Corpse Party: Book of Shadows, taking place sometime during the course of those games, Corpse Party: Sweet Sachiko’s Hysteric Birthday Bash recounts the bizarre events of vengeful ghost girl Sachiko Shinozaki’s one-of-a-kind birthday party held in the otherworldly school where so many lives have been lost in previous games: Heavenly Host Elementary. The game plays out as a visual novel, divided into eight main chapters that each detail a different activity or cluster of activities. Player decisions determine which of the game’s endings is attained, with only one true ending from each chapter leading into the next. Surviving to the end will require thinking like Sachiko and making the choices that will please her the most…but with the fewest casualties.

Psycho-Pass: Mandatory Happiness

Psycho-Pass: Mandatory Happiness

Microsoft Xbox One - Released - May 28, 2015

In the new future, everyone's mental state and disposition can now be quantified. Everything from emotional tendencies to criminal behavior are recorded and utilized as a guideline to lead everyone to the good life: not only pursuing happiness, but attaining it. Needless to say, the public was excited to begin quantifying their everyday lives. The general term for this value, which determines the morality of an individual's heart and soul, is commonly known as the Psycho-Pass. One component of this value is the Crime Coefficient, which is ultimately a number that represents an individual's potential to commit crime. In order to combat those who attempt to disrupt the status quo, detectives work in tandem to maintain peace and order, composed of Enforcers and Inspectors. The former is tasked with apprehending suspects, while the latter oversees and commands their subordinate colleagues. After all, Enforcers possess high Crime Coefficients. However, because of their criminal nature, they can better understand what makes other criminals tick, allowing them to sniff out suspects and arrest the true perpetrators. But because of their criminal background, Inspectors are needed to provide a calm and sound judgement to each case. Ultimately, all members of the MWPSB have to walk a fine line, maintaining their own mental health while facing the worst that society has to offer. With justice in their hearts, the detectives of Division 1 tackle each case, confronting humanity's ugly truths. But, what lies ahead?

Psycho-Pass: Mandatory Happiness

Sony Playstation 4 - Released - September 13, 2016

In the near future, advanced technological developments have allowed one's mental state and disposition to be quantified and profiled. For the public's welfare, all emotions and thoughts are documented and managed by the Sibyl System. This system measures the quality of each person's life by what is known as the Psycho-Pass, a reading of an individual's mind. Broken down into two main components is the Hue, which is a visual representation of the Psycho-Pass that conveys a person's stress level. The other is the Crime Coefficient, which is a numerical value that represents a person's criminal capacity. This number determines whether an individual requires enforcement by the detectives of the Public Safety Bureau. Detectives are divided into two groups: Enforcers, who are tasked with the investigation of crimes and the apprehension of criminals, and Inspectors, who are charged with managing the Enforcers. Steins;Gate 0

Steins;Gate 0

Sony Playstation Vita - Released - December 10, 2015

Steins;Gate 0 is a visual novel, where the player reads through the story in the form of passages of text and dialogue, accompanied by character sprites and background art.[1] The story consists of multiple branches, which lead to different endings. As opposed to the original Steins;Gate's single route that runs from start to finish with multiple branch points throughout, Steins;Gate 0 features one branch point near the beginning of the game, where the story splits into two major story branches, which in turn branch again into the different endings; there are in total two main story paths, along with four side stories. The direction of the story is determined based on whether or not the player chooses to answer calls from the artificial intelligence Amadeus, which the player character Rintaro Okabe can communicate with through his cell phone.[2] In addition to Okabe, the player also takes the roles of other characters, mostly Suzuha Amane and Maho Hiyajo.[3] The player can also use Okabe's phone to interact with his friends through the messaging app RINE:[4] at some points, the game shows a notification indicating that Okabe has received a message, and the player can choose between different messages to send back – either text messages or stickers[3][5] – temporarily locking the game into a conversation with the other character that changes depending on the player's reply.[1][5] Unlike the Amadeus calls, the RINE messages do not affect the branching of the story.[3]

Yu-No: A Girl Who Chants Love at the Bound of this World

Yu-No: A Girl Who Chants Love at the Bound of this World

Nintendo Switch - Released - March 14, 2019

Yu-No: A Girl Who Chants Love at the Bound of this World is a Japanese-style adventure game, also known as a visual novel, originally released in 1996 for the NEC PC-98, and later ported to the Sega Saturn and Windows. In 2017 a remake was produced for the Playstation 4 and Playstation Vita, with completely redrawn HD graphics and rearranged music, while maintaining the same story and game structure. The 2019 Nintendo Switch port included these new features as well. Takuya Arima is a young student whose father, a famous historian and teacher, mysteriously disappears. Some time later he receives a parcel from his father containing a Reflector device and instructions on how to use it. The device would allow Takuya to travel to parallel worlds. At first he doesn't take it seriously, but soon realizes that the device works indeed, effectively allowing him to experiment different alternative realities and travel between them. Unique to the game, is the A.D.M.S. (Auto Diverge Mapping System), which is a visual representation of the several branches formed from decisions taken in the story, helping the player understand where he can explore new possibilities as well as go back, if something goes wrong. Similar systems would later be used in many other games of this genre. The original PC-98 game contained erotic content that have been heavily toned down in the PS4/Vita/Switch versions, which contains no nudity or explicit sex scenes. Similarly to what was edited in the Sega Saturn version. Although adult innuendo is still present, with several adult themes such as incest.
