Overview

Dark Horse Legend is a series of 3D horse racing games developed and published by Konami for the Arcade platforms. In this game players control their horse with the joystick while two buttons are used; one controlling the reins for small accelerations that drains little portions of the horse's stamina and another is for changing camera view. There is a speed meter bar, more further you are in that bar more stamina you lose,if you pull the joystick forward your horse will run faster consuming more stamina, back is the opposite but you'll risk to fall too much behind. Horse races are done in a non-linear path and it's up to you choosing which one you prefer and those are listed in three difficulties (Easy, Normal, Hard). More harder is the race better is the reward, in this chase, horse exp to level up. Yes,horses level up every time you gain enough exp upon winning. Getting first place is mandatory, every other position is considered a lose and you'll need to add more coins to continue. Every horse has different stats, managing strength and weakness about you horse is crucial, those can be more easier to deal once you level up, timing is also what make you win the race, boost at wrong time and the lose is certain. The start and end of every race is made in news papers style as if a bettor were really betting on you, with unique and sometime funny fake advertisements on it.
