Among the fifteen locations available are a pub, a park, and a bank, and each location is brought to life with voice synthesis. Each location will have a clue, but not all clues will be useful. Before solving the case, players must visit Scotland Yard for a badge. Players might also want to use a badge to lock a location with a useful clue, requiring other players to detour to the locksmith. The bomb has already been placed somewhere on the base, its timer set to detonate at 09:00. Shocked, you rush to the local police station, to warn them to stop the launch. Unfortunately, they've read your stories about Bigfoot actually being a UFO alien, and they won't believe the shuttle story, either. Now it's up to you alone to save the shuttle and its five crew members. Using all your reporter's cunning, you manage to sneak past the gate guards. You duck into a small storage shed, knowing that the hardest part of your job is still ahead of you. And you've only got one hour.

Adventure Creator

Adventure Creator

Atari 800 - Released - March 1, 1984

Adventure Creator is a fairly simple adventure game creator/editor. You can create rooms and hallways, with treasure chests, monsters, and traps that must be avoided. Games can be saved to disk, but you need the Adventure Creator cartridge to play them. Adventures can also be automatically randomly generated. The games you create are fairly limited, with only one monster allowed per screen, and three types of weapons to hobble the monster with. The goal of the adventures is to find some named object. However, the object you seek is really only a name, and is not represented graphically.

Adventures 1-2-3

Adventures 1-2-3

Atari 800 - Released - 1981

Compilation release of Adventureland, Pirate Adventure, and Mission Impossible. The games are controlled through the use of written commands. These can consist of a single word, such as those used for player character movement, including north, south, east, west, up, and down. They can also take the form of simple, two-word verb/noun phrases, such as "climb tree". Although the game can recognize about 120 words, the parser only takes the first three letters into account. This means not only that the parser occasionally misidentifies words, but also that commands can be truncated: "lig lam" would be interpreted as "light lamp."

Age of Adventure

Age of Adventure

Atari 800 - Released - 1986

Age of Adventure is a combo pack of two previous Stuart Smith games, Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, and Return of Heracles. In both games you control a top-down view player character and move it around the screen with a joystick (in Return of Heracles, you also have a pet dog to control). Game play is turn based with a certain number of actions in each turn. Maps are much larger than a screen and are revealed as explored. In multiplayer games players can control multiple characters on alternate turns (unusually, with almost any number of players). Control and view behavior were predecessors to many other similar games that game later, for instance the SSI Gold Box series. The engine used for these games was later enhanced to build the 8-bit Adventure Construction Set, also by Smith. In the Atari version, Age of Adventure has a feature to set the speed of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, the only release in which this is possible. Versions were also available for the Apple II, and Commodore 64.

You receive a tap-proof mobile phone from us. Use it to find out where the crazy smartphone is. The further away you are, the more uncertain the data is unfortunately - we do our best to help you. Don’t use the phone too often, it costs you 10% battery power each time. Collect new batteries where ever possible. In rural areas the connection often is insufficient or you won’t have network coverage at all. With 35% battery power you can give it a boost and create a short time network connection. Air Defense

Air Defense

Atari 800 - Released - 1983

From Compute! April 1983, a Missile Defense type game. The object of the game of "Air Defense" is to defend your land (at the bottom of the screen) from falling bombs. The bombs appear at various places at the top of the screen. As they fall, the player must line up the crosshair of his gunsight and fire when the bomb and crosshair are aligned. Press SPACE to fire. The player gets only one shot, and timing is critical. After 20 bombs have appeared, the game ends, and the player is given a score showing hits and misses and a point score. One of the unique features of the game is the increasing difficulty factor: as the player improves his skill, the crosshair is gradually moved toward the top of the screen, and quicker reflexes and improved technique are required to destroy the falling bombs. As a reward for increasing skill, the player earns higher point values for successive hits. In addition, the player receives a higher score the sooner the falling bomb is destroyed.

Air Hockey

Air Hockey

Atari 800 - Released - 1986

From A.N.A.L.O.G. magazine January 1986. Once your options are set (or left alone, if you like the default settings) you may press START to play. You'll then see a vertical air hockey board with the scores displayed at the top, along with the score necessary to win the game. The puck will appear in front of the serving player's paddle. That player must hit the puck to start the game. The game is something like Pong, with forward motion as well as side-to-side. Players control the paddles by moving the joystick in the direction they wish to move. The buttons do nothing. A score is made when the puck goes into the yellow goal area of a player, and the other player becomes the server. If the puck gets stuck between players, as it can in real air hockey, you may re-serve by pressing the SPACE BAR. Also, while in the play mode, you may press the ESCape key to exit the program. Finally, if you want to restart the game, press START anytime during the game (except during the goal sequence), and you'll be returned to the options screen. When the game is over, there's a long cheering sequence with whistling fans (if the crowd likes you) before you're returned to the title screen.

There is a strategic and an arcade game option. In the strategic option, only enemy androids attack. In arcade mode, the enemy also possess twirlers which rapidly destroy friendly troops, and enemy missile silos which will take down your helicopter. There are a total of 7 different game modes, with different starting scenarios, troop deployment, and winning goals. The winning goal is to maximize funds during a play session, with a pre-specified turns of turns. The game is played on board in a 6 x 6 grid, with each section representing a major US city. During each round, a player can either purchase an airport, a plane, or skip the turn. Different locations and planes are worth different profit margins. Once two or more airports are purchased, the player can station planes in different locations. Planes available in increasing cost are: Prop, Airbus, DC-10, 747, and Concord. The player will then gather fares from their connecting flights, allowing them to further expand their aviation network. The 1986 German game from Ariolasoft is essentially the same game, but an enhanced version released four years after this, although only in Germany.

Airline (Ariolasoft)

Airline (Ariolasoft)

Atari 800 - Released - 1986

Airline is a multiplayer strategy game for two to four players. Every player takes control over a airline company and tries to be the first to score 100 points. Those points are not only earned by accumulating money but also with others factors like customer satisfaction. The basic procedure: in each turn, representing a month, players have two minutes to make all decisions in the menus. The only exceptions are the result (shows the player's score) and maintenance menus which can be chosen even after time has run out. After all players are done, the computer calculates the consequences which show the profitability of each flight along with the overall financial balance. Flights can also be cancelled because of random occurrences, e.g. strikes or winter. After that the next round starts. The whole game is menu based and the most important thing to plan are the flying routes of the owned airplanes. This includes planning the personnel and the service goods. Of course players can also buy or sell airplanes, set the prices and transport freight.

Air-Raid!

Air-Raid!

Atari 800 - Released - 1982

Air Raid! is a side-scrolling shooter which puts you in control of an aircraft and charged with the task of defending a city against waves of incoming bombers. Each level starts with your plane fully fuelled and loaded with ammo, waiting for take-off. The bombers appear on radar in the distance to your left, and you must destroy them all before they take out your radar and both of your landing areas. There are a total of nine levels, or "strikes" of increasing difficulty. On the first, there are only a small number of bombers, which cannot return fire. Subsequent levels have increasing numbers of bombers, some of which can shoot back. Later levels also introduce fighter escorts which move faster than the bombers and will change course to intercept you. Each level consists of two waves, with the second wave appearing only after the first has been cleared from the air. After the ninth strike, the final level repeats until all of your planes are destroyed. Flying uses fuel, and shooting reduces ammunition. These can be replenished, up to a maximum of 100 units each, by landing on one of your air bases. Whilst flying, you also have the option of dropping an external fuel-tank. This decreases your fuel to 50, thereby reducing your flight time but also improving the speed of your aircraft.
